Having one of my rekindled loves tonight, Paulaner Hefe-Weizen. After I went to Germany a few years ago I kind of turned into a major beer snob. Lately Ive been drinking a lot of Pilsners and Lagers and left my poor Wheats behind, I can't believe I went so long without them! While I prefer Franziskaner the Paulaner is by no means settling. So Oppo, what are you drinking tonight?

I've had some Punk IPA, and Trashy blonde (Brewdog), a few pints of Guinness, some Nøgne Ø IPA, and a bloody fantastic glass of 14 year old Oban. Ending the night with some bland pilsner from Tuborg.

hahaha true but these days any Pale Lager is considered a Pilsner and they are quite a bit different from your other lagers. Also the original Pilsners from Plzen were brewed according to Bavarian standards

I have that stein but in the full, majestic 1L glory. There's a brewery near me that does a 5$ stein night and they will fill that bad boy to the brim for 5$. 10$ gets me pretty nice and happy. And it's good, belgian style microbrew and not just cheap piss water swill. Picture is of my pride and joy in action. A lot of people don't know that it's stein night and their beers go for 5-8$ per 10-14 oz glass so yeah, I get taken seriously when I'm there until people hear about the deal. Then they just get jelly :P

As for what I am drinking tonight? Bell's Oberon.

I love living in Grand Rapids since even the sports bars have amazing beer on tap. Thursdays are :local night" at one of them and they do 4$ tall drafts of New Holland, Bell's, and other local beers. The poet is my standby when I go. But if they have the Perrin Brewing Black Lager? Not drinking any alcohol tonight, but Paulaner is always a good choice. I find that Franziskaner is better at its best, but for some reason it sometimes has lost its zip by the time it gets to these shores. Paulaner is at least consistent.

Not going to lie, it's worth it for the cute waitresses and bartenders alone since they'll have a beer or two with you when their shift ends.....and they get them for free so you don't have to buy them yourself! :D

But in all seriousness, if a place near you does a similar mug/stein night, bring the big guns and watch as people stare at you in awe.

I agree, for the most part the Franziskaner I get is pretty good but Ive definitely had it where its not quite right. Plus having been to literally almost every brewery and beer garden in Munich its never the same

Its great. They also have a Pear lager that I didn't think I'd like but is quite refreshing on a hot night. Its a Lexington, VA based brewery

it was after work around 6 very laid back. And next door was the billy blancos place that has been postedd about before. Has a mustang and maybe a challenger in there above some tables. But it turns out that underneath there is a gt3rs an old camaro vert some awesome bikes all in a nice shop.
